However, after the change in formation, the Blues enjoyed a long run of success and eventually ended with big accomplishment by lifting the Premier League trophy.

Full-back Marcos Alonso, who played a vital role in the title winning campaign has now suggested that last season's tactics could be scrapped this term as manager Conte is trying other alternative options too.

'We are working on new things this year to improve as a team. [It was] not only Chelsea [that used this system]. It's an old Italian system that worked very well last year,' said the Spanish defender.

He added: 'It's normal that other teams are trying to play like this, depending on the players you have. It's good to play in different ways.

'Football forgets everything very quick. It's already time to think about the next season and do better than last year.'

Chelsea face Inter Milan on Saturday (July 29) to round off their Asia tour in the International Champions Cup in Singapore and on Sunday the August 6th they will face FA Cup champions Arsenal in the Community Shield at Wembley, London.
