The 39-year-old will be commencing his 17th campaign as a Juventus player this season. He earlier mentioned that he planned to hang up his gloves after the 2018 World Cup and now continuing his declaration, Buffon maintained that he wants to stick with what he said before.

Gigi also clarified that he wants to go out as a top player and wants to add the last Serie A title again to his name by enjoying the game more closely.

“This could be my final year and it's really electrifying," Buffon said.

“I want to try and enjoy the special aspect of things, like with all experiences. When you go to a place and think that it is the last time, you appreciate the beauty more and want to remember the emotions it brings you forever.

“It will be special as a season, but I want to make it even more formidable by performing to the best of my ability, which could help Juve repeat the achievements we've done in the past."

Since his multi million move from Parma to Juventus, the veteran keeper has experienced a glorious career to his name where he has won ten Serie A titles, three Coppa Italia and One World Cup (2006) with Italy.

The one notable trophy which has been overdue in his trophy overhaul is the Uefa Champions League. However, the Italy number one has reached the Champions league finals three times in his Juventus career, failing to win a single time.

Calling it a time in a year can create a possibility of ending his career without that illustrious trophy, however, the goalkeeper suggested that only a single trophy can not mark his career as success or failure in that competition.

"It does not give me anxiety or make me anxious," Buffon said.

“It's never had a negative meaning for me, and it doesn't now.

“The Champions League has always been a motivation to improve and enjoy some emotions, like facing certain players in certain stadiums."

Juventus are currently targeting their seventh league title on the trot and have already geared up the engine by signing big names like Douglas Costa, Frederico Bernardeschi, Mattia De Sciglio and Wojciech Szczęsny.

The Old Lady are now reportedly looking to sign Lazio winger Keita Balde and Roma defender Kostas Manolas with a big swoop.
