Emil Forsberg plays down Manchester United and AC Milan transfer

Emil Forsberg cools Manchester United and AC Milan transfer talks as he wishes to stay in the Bundesliga for one more year.

Berlin, July 28: RB Leipzig winger Emil Forsberg has rubbished rumours linking him with a move away from the club and suggested that he expects to stay with the Bundesliga side at least for another season.

The 25-year-old has recently been linked with a big money move to newly rejuvenated Italian side AC Milan after he earlier described Milan specifically as a “fantastic" club and an “interesting project".

Earlier this week there were also reports circulating in Italy that the Swedish international has been mentioned as a potential choice to Inter Milan's Ivan Perisic with United withholding to reach the Italian club's £48 million valuation.

However, refusing all the speculations, the winger has now poured cold water on every club's odds of capturing him.

Forsberg revealed that he only talked about the clubs in general and he has no intention of leaving the club this season as he is planning to build on Leipzig's second-placed finish in the Bundesliga last season.

Forsberg said: “I only answered a journalist's question. I would have given the same answer for Bayern Munich."

“Milan is one of the biggest clubs in the world, along with Real [Madrid], Barcelona or Manchester United."

Forsberg also responded to the question when he was asked whether his statements had upset his current employers.

He said: “Why should it? What bad things did I say about Leipzig? Nothing."

“I have always spoken positively about RB. I don't understand the fuss. Everything is fine. I'm totally motivated and focused and ideally want to play an even better season with RB than the last one."

Forsberg has been enjoying the best times of his life after he recorded 19 assists in the league last season, most by any player as well as scored eight goals.

The Swede is under contract with Leipzig until 2022 and German club's director Ralf Rangnick has already declared that none of their big stars will leave the club this summer.

Jose Mourinho is in search of a winger for a long time but with the latest development, the Portuguese man might have to look for an alternative in the market and his plans might be put on hold for now.
