Kolkata, March 10: Despite the fact that Aizawl FC is on top of the I-League table with 29 points from 13 matches, Indian skipper and ace striker Sunil Chhetri seems confident that the season will finally come to Kolkata.

Both the Kolkata giants, East Bengal and Mohun Bagan are at second and third positions in the table. East Bengal have garnered 27 points after 13 matches while Mohun Bagan are at 22 points after 11 matches.
The Indian skipper who is also the captain of Bengaluru FC, said on Thursday (March 9), "Do not rule us out now. We still have a chance to come back. The key factor behind our trailing at number 5 is that we have squandered chances consistently in last few matches. As an aftermath we had to lose in those matches. But now we are on the way towards rectifying those mistakes. You will see a different Bengaluru FC in our impending matches."
When asked whether Aizawl FC have a fair chance of winning their maiden title, Chhetri did not agree. Rather he opined clarifying that I League will finally come to Kolkata in spite of Aizawl's consistent show.
Chhetri said, “It cannot be denied that Aizawl FC have been in tremendous form. Their performance on the field looks unique as the boys have been running a lot, driving themselves till the end of the match to earn full three points. Still I believe any team among East Bengal and Mohun Bagan will finally clinch the I-League this season."
He added, “I feel Aizawl FC's only deficiency is inexperience. The team mainly consists of young and enthusiastic footballers. But in a tournament like I-League any team needs the balance where along with young energetic boys experienced footballers are also needed.
"This balance guides the team to fulfill the aim amidst the tremendous mental pressure in the last phase of the league. Both Mohun Bagan and East Bengal have that balance in their teams. I feel in the last lap, any of these two teams will supersede Aizawl and become champions."
