Kolkata, Nov 18: He struck 12 goals in 10 Kolkata Premier League matches last year. Probably he was the first foreigner after a long time to have scored 2 brilliant goals in the derby match against Mohun Bagan.

He struck four important goals for his team against Mohun Bagan in both the derby matches last season. And despite being the hero of his club supporters, East Bengal have decided to release their South Korean midfielder Do Dong-hyun even a year before his contract ends.

East Bengal Club's officials did not have intention to close the relationship with their prolific Korean midfielder, but they were forced to do thanks to coach Trevor Morgan who did not give nod to the club officials on retaining Hyun.

Morgan had reportedly said to the club's top brass, "Hyun is a good player but does not suit to my playing system and before the forthcoming I-League it will be tough for me to adjust with his playing style."

And the Korean midfielder, with a little bit of sadness on the face, before his departure on Thursday (November 17), said, "Morgan, while talking to me a couple of weeks ago, told me he was impressed with my all-round movement along the pitch. He also pointed out saying that I would be useful to his tactics in the I-League. Today, I am surprised that despite having said all those words it was he who did not want me to continue."

The midfielder, who was cordoned by the fans at the club premises on Thursday evening and offered wishes for his birthday just after two days, also said, "I will not sit. I must play somewhere in India and in the I-League. And my performance in the League will be so encouraging that Morgan will be compelled to call me again. That is going to be my challenge in next couple of months."

A section of East Bengal officials is not at all happy with Hyun's departure and there has been a major rift between the officials. Morgan might be in trouble if he does not succeed in the I-League this season.
