And from his arrival in the morning till his departure in the late evening, Rivaldo could not speak to the media whenever he was approached.

His lawyer became obstruction and suggested that media interaction was not in his contract with Delhi Dynamos, the franchise club that played the anchor role in bringing Rivaldo in Kolkata.

Rivaldo had an informal meeting with Delhi Dynamos footballers at the team hotel. And the overwhelmed Delhi Dynamos footballers speaking to media later said it was a lifetime experience for them on Sunday afternoon.

Shouvik Chakrabarty, the Mohun Bagan midfielder who has been representing the Delhi team for the last two seasons, said: “Firstly, Rivaldo apologised for not being able to watch our Friday’s match against Athletico De Kolkata.

"Then after having heard about our defeat against ATK, Rivaldo gave an example of his World Cup experience in 2002.

"He said, Brazil had also a tough time in 2002 World Cup group stage before Turkey match. That match was do-or-die for them.

"And Rivaldo revealed that before the match against Turkey their chief coach Luiz Felipe Scholari motivated them by saying that if they had not been able to beat Turkey all of them should have retired from the game! Rivaldo, giving this example, told us we also should motivate us in the same way.”

According to another Delhi Dynamos footballer, Rivaldo, before leaving Kollkata, has also given a hint that he might join Delhi Dynamos as its coach in near future.
