Delhi captain and goalkeeper Antonio Baltasar Santana was also happy about the win and said the team gelled well.
"We were trying to play in the space that was available and our ball possession was good." Meanwhile, Chennaiyin coach Marco Materazzi admitted that Delhi deserved to win as they had better ball possession.
Materazzi said: "We lacked the pace and hunger in the whole team. The level of the teams in this edition has gone up and of course, there were defensive lapses and we committed six or seven mistakes in the match."
