Chelsea to make opening bid for this Arsenal star

Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain is a target of Chelsea, Manchester City and also Liverpool and has just one year left in his contract.

London, July 24: Arsenal's biggest test this summer will be to keep hold onto their best player Alexis Sanchez who is desperate to leave the Emirates but they have other concerns also and one of the biggest among them is the situation of Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain.

Having already rejected a deal to stay at the club, it is clear that Chamberlain is looking for pastures and does not have any shortage of suitors.

It is claimed that Chelsea are lining up an imminent transfer bid for Arsenal star Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain but Manchester City and Liverpool are also monitoring the situation.

Liverpool are also expressing a strong interest, with Jurgen Klopp a keen admirer of the England winger, but the Merseyside outfit are yet to make a formal bid.

The Daily Express suggests Chelsea are set to overtake the Reds in the race for Oxlade-Chamberlain with an offer for the ex-Southampton man in the next 48 hours.

Manchester City have also emerged as a potential suitor as Pep Guardiola scours the market for attacking reinforcements.

Guardiola has turned his attentions away from Alexis Sanchez, with Paris Saint-Germain the favourites to land the Chilean. Guardiola is reportedly a big admirer of the Englishman thanks to his immense versatility and adaptability.

Chamberlain has served as a utility man for much of his spell with Arsenal, and he could certainly be regarded as a valuable player at Chelsea or Liverpool or City.

The England international is one of a host of players in the final year of their contracts at the Emirates Stadium, but it would seem that Arsene Wenger's focus is elsewhere. We have to wait and see what future holds for the 23-year-old.
