It was the first ever face to face meeting between Antonio Conte and Arsene Wenger and the veteran Frenchman celebrated his 20th anniversary at Arsenal with a fine win over the Blues.
Alexis Sanchez scored the opening goal in the 11th minute. Chelsea had the possession of the ball in the midfield.
Branislav Ivanovic opted for a backpass towards Gary Cahill who did a complete mess of the pass and feeded it to Alexis Sanchez. Sanchez found himself one on one with Thibaut Courtois and found the back of the net with ease.
The second goal came within 3 minutes. The Gunners exhibited some exquisite passing in the midfield and Walcott finished from a resulting pass. Chelsea defenders looked like a bunch of school boys in front of their opponents.
The third goal came from the feet of Mesut Ozil. The German midfielder ran down the middle of the park and passed it to Alexis Sanchez who immediately curled a cross towards Ozil at the far end of the penalty box.
Ozil finished with a calm and composed volley which comfortably beat Courtois and went inside the goal. 3 goals in the first half and it was game set and match in Arsenal's favour.
The second half was comparitively dull as none of the teams came close to scoring. Chelsea lacked venom upfront and their defence was a major reason to worry.
