EPL Gameweek 1: Roundup, results and team of the week

London, Aug 16: The English Premier League 2016/17 season kick-started its campaign with a bang. All the 10 games in the first week saw neck to neck and exciting competition.

In the first match of the new season, Leicester City took on newly promoted side Hull City. To everyone's surprise the Foxes went down against the Tigers.

Claudio Ranieri's men failed to continue their previous season's streak as Steve Bruce's men outclassed the champions.

Mauricio Pochettino's Tottenham Hotspur faced Everton in the second game of the day. Ross Barkley scored the solitary goal to gift new manager Ronaldo Koeman his first match as Toffees manager.

In the last game of the day, Pep Guardiola got his first win over Sunderland 2-1. Sergio Aguero and an own goal helped his cause.

The second day saw the giants of the league, Manchester United, Arsenal and Liverpool in action. Manchester United secured a comfortable win over AFC Bournemouth as Zlatan Ibrahimovic scored on his league debut.

The second game featured Arsenal and Liverpool face to face at the Emirates stadium. As expected the game was mouth-watering, both the teams playing attractive football. Liverpool beat Arsenal 4-3 in the opening goal.

On Sunday night, Chelsea FC played their first match against West Ham United. It was their new manager Antonio Conte's debut match in the league. Eden Hazard scored the first goal for the Blues which was cancelled out in the second half.

Spain born Brazilian striker Diego Costa scored the winning late in the second half helping Conte to secure his first league match win as the Blues boss.
