Dhoni fined Rs 500 for violating traffic rule in Ranchi

Ranchi, April 8: Indian cricket team captain Mahendra Singh Dhoni was fined Rs 500 by Ranchi traffic police for violation of traffic rules.

According to news reports, Dhoni's bike, BSA Gold Star DBD 34 which he rode on the city streets on Monday was without registration number plate.

The bike soon caught attention of city traffic police which was on drive against vehicles violating traffic rules.

The traffic police said Dhoni violated Motor Vehicle Act guidelines pertaining to display and use of number plate. [IPL schedule; Tournament guide]

"We had sent the chalan to his house and Dhoni's family paid the fine and said he violated the rules due to ignorance," the police said.

Dhoni has promised for his full cooperation to the Ranchi police's drive in the city," Traffic SP was quoted as saying in reports.
