WWC Final: India women's coach Tushar Arothe gave this message to Mithali & Co

But his contribution toward Indian women's cricket, who are on the brink of a historic World Cup triumph, cannot be ignored.

India are playing at Lord's on Sunday, after a span of 34 years of Indian men's cricket team's jubilation in the World Cup under the leadership of Kapil Dev.

Arothe was brought in charge of the women's team just two months before the World Cup kicked off.

The Indian women's team had a preparatory camp in Pune. After a lot of attempts Arothe was finally caught up over phone on Saturday (July 22) evening. He seemed extremely hopeful on his girls' performance in the final against England.

Even when asked about Harmanpreet Kaur's shoulder injury and chances of playing in the final, Arothe refuting the issue said, “Harmanpreet will play. The little bit of injury she has, is almost set to be cured before the final kicks off."

The chief coach when asked what he has been saying to motivate the girls said, “I have been repeatedly telling them only one sentence. That is, keep yourself cool and just try to enjoy the game on the ground."

Tushar was associated with the same Indian women's team as a fielding coach when Purnima Rao was the chief coach of the team.

The coach, who has already represented Baroda for consecutive 18 years and participated in more than 100 first class matches, also seemed happy with the improvement of fielding of the Indian team comparing to their poor condition a year ago.

He said, “Some of the fielders in the team have been performing better. But at the same time, the fielding should be more compact. After we won the semifinal match I showed them that how many crucial catches they had missed in the match. I have also told them that there should not be any repetition in the final."
