Bengaluru, March 23: Syed Kirmani, one of India's all-time great wicket keepers, seems highly optimistic about current Indian Test wicket-keeper Wriddhiman Saha.

The former wicket-keeper is so hopeful that he opined that if Wriddhiman can maintain two crucial ingredients while training and playing he can even supersede former Indian captainMS Dhoni as both batsman and wicket-keeper.

Kirmani, speaking over the phone, said on Wednesday, March 23: “Wriddhiman has two qualities which are simply superb.

"Any wicket keeper, who is trying to reach the top in the highest level of the game, needs these two qualities.

"One is reaction time after the ball leaves the batsman. His other splendid quality is observation on the ball till the end of its departure from the batsman and I noticed in Ranchi Test that Wriddhiman was being able to do this consistently even on the leg side which generally tough.

":I know Farokh Engineer had mastery in this department. He also used to observe the ball perfectly on the leg side.

"At the same time he also could bat well also. That is why he became India's opening batsman for long time."

Kirmani however advised Saha saying: “Wriddhiman needs to master two more qualities. Firstly he needs to be calm even at the time of team's crisis.

"Dhoni was master in this department. Even at a time when bowlers were failing to penetrate and they were being hit continuously Dhoni's guidance towards the bowlers was excellent.

"Wriddhiman has not yet tested in this zone. The Bengal wicket keeper needs to be aggressive little more both behind the wicket as well as with bat.

"He batted splendidly in Ranchi. Even I saw him scoring double ce3ntury in the last Irani Trophy match.

"Still, in the highest level of the game, I feel Wriddhiman can surpass Dhoni if he can attain these two qualities."
