Mumbai, March 4: The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) on Friday concluded the random draw of the lottery system for all the four India matches, the semi-finals (Men and Women) and the final (Men and Women) of ICC World Twenty20 India 2016.
Anurag Thakur, Secretary, BCCI, said: "The process has been laid down to ensure transparency and provide an equal opportunity to all the cricket fans, to participate and witness these matches." (BCCI assures foolproof security for Pakistan team)
"Considering the enormous demand for these identified matches (4 India matches, 2 semi-finals and the final) a limited inventory of tickets are being sold through this unique lottery system. I congratulate all the winners who have won their tickets online and invite them to witness these matches," Thakur added in a media advisory issued by BCCI on Friday (March 4).
"Around 5,69,000 online registrations were made for the lottery draw process. The India versus Pakistan match saw around 2,02,000 online registrations. I am happy to note that more than 45,000 tickets have been sold online for matches other than the India matches, which augurs well for the tournament" he said.
The lucky winners will be sent the notification by email and SMS and will be given 48 Hours to complete the transaction online and secure the tickets failing which the tickets will be reintroduced in the random draw to identify to next applicant.
