Bengaluru, March 3: Indian players are set to sport a new look at the ICC World Twenty20 2016 to be played at home. Today (March 3) they unveiled the new kit for the tournament.
The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI), on Thursday, tweeted a picture of Indian players (both men and women) in their new designed blue jerseys and track pants.
The photograph titled "Chase Greatness" has captain Mahendra Singh Dhoni, Virat Kohli, Ajinkya Rahane, Ravichandran Ashwin, Ravindra Jadeja and Umesh Yadav.
According to Nike, the kit sponsor, the new dress is "engineered for greatness".
"Bold with a contemporary stripped motif, the kits express the excitement and responsibility the players feel when representing their country," Mithali Raj, captain of Indian women's team, said.
"Wearing the kit and playing for the country is an overwhelming feeling, which is impossible to express in words. Whenever I put on the blue, the feeling is altogether different," Ajinkya Rahane said.
India, who open the inaugural World T20 in South Africa in 2007, will open their campaign against New Zealand on March 15 in Nagpur. The tournament runs from March 8 to April 3.
Currently, India are playing in the Asia Cup Twenty20 tournament in Bangladesh. They will face Bangladesh in the final on March 6 (Sunday).
