Bengaluru, Feb 16: The International Cricket Council (ICC) has allocated a reserve day for only the final of next month's World Twenty20 2016 tournament.
There are no reserve days for first round, second round and semi-finals. If a match is tied, no result or abandoned, teams will share a point each, according to the World T20 Playing Conditions released by the ICC on Monday (February 15).
For all tied matches, Super Over will be used to determine the winner. However, if weather conditions do not permit the match or the Super Over to be completed, points will be shared.
With no reserve days allotted for both semi-finals, in case they are tied, abandoned or no result, the team which finished first in Second Stage will progress to the final.
"There shall be no reserve days for any matches except for the Final," ICC said.
If the final is interrupted on the match day, it will continue from the same point on the reserve day. If there is no possibility of Super Over or match is abandoned due to weather conditions, the finalists will decalred joint winners of the tournament.
World T20 will be held in India from March 8 to April 3. There are 16 teams in the fray. Kolkata's Eden Gardens will host the final. This year sees the 6th edition of the global event.
According to World T20 Playing Conditions, the following will apply
Clause 12.1.1 All matches will consist of one innings per side, each innings being limited to a maximum of 20 overs. All matches shall be of one day's scheduled duration.
12.1.2 There shall be no reserve days for any matches except for the Final.
12.1.3 There shall be one reserve day allocated to the Final on which an incomplete match shall be continued from the scheduled day.
12.1.4 Every effort will be made to complete the final on the scheduled day with any necessary reduction in overs taking place and only if the minimum number of overs necessary to constitute a match cannot be bowled on the scheduled day will the match be completed on the reserve day.
12.1.5 If the reserve day for the Final is utilised, the hours of play are the same as the scheduled hours of play on the scheduled day, including any provision for extra time. The amount of extra time available on the reserve day cannot exceed that which was available on the scheduled day.
21.10.3 Semi Final
If a Semi-Final is tied, the teams shall compete in a Super Over to determine which team progresses to the Final.
