Pak crush Bangla by 55 runs

Pak played 50-over WC match in India twice before; they lost both to India

Earlier to this, Pakistan had played World Cup matches on Indian soil twice, both of the 50-over version. On both instances, they lost to hosts India in the knock-out phase.

The first time Pakistan took part in a World Cup match in India was in March 1996 when they met Mohammad Azharuddin's side in the quarter final at Bengaluru. The visitors, who had won all their group matches except one on their own soil, lost the match by 39 runs to crash out of the tournament.

The second time Pakistan played a World Cup match in India was in 2011 and this time as well, they met the arch-rivals India in the semi-final at Mohali. They lost the match by 29 runs. Shahid Afridi was Pakistan's skipper while MS Dhoni led India.

The World Cup was also played in the sub-continent in 1987 but Pakistan played all their matches in their own country in that edition. They lost to Australia in the semifinal and hence did not get a chance to appear in the final at the Eden Gardens.

Pak will look to rewrite history on March 19 against India

They are captaining their respective sides in this T20 World Cup as well. The two teams will also meet in a high-voltage Group 2 match at the Eden Gardens on March 19 (Saturday). Having lost their first match to New Zealand at Nagpur on Tuesday (March 15), Dhoni's men will be under more pressure in the match against Pakistan to remain alive in the tournament.
