Adelaide, Feb 15: Arch-rivals India and Pakistan will take on each other in their opening match of the ICC World Cup 2015. This is the sixth time the two teams will meet in a World Cup match. [Follow updates of Day 2 of ICC World Cup 2015]
India have won all the previous five encounters played since the 1992 edition. In their first-ever World Cup encounter played at the Sydney Cricket Ground, India had beaten Pakistan by 43 runs although the latter went on to become the champions. [10 facts about India-Pakistan match]
The subsequent victories came at Bangalore in the quarter-final of the 1996 World Cup, Super Six stage at Manchester in 1999, group stage at Centurion in 2003 and semi-final of the 2011 edition. [Flashback: India's 5-0 lead over Pakistan]
Former batting maestro Sachin Tendulkar was adjudged man of the match in three of the five India-Pakistan matches played in the World Cup so far. India's Navjot Singh Sidhu and Venkatesh Prasad had won the award in the other two matches.
