Dorai Raj felt bad that his daughter and her teammates couldn't lift the much desired World Cup trophy as they lost by a margin of nine runs.

Many would have thought that he was frustrated after India's defeat, but it wasn't the case. Raj refuted that he avoided picking up calls on Sunday out of frustration.

Rather he, while speaking from his residence in Hyderabad, on Monday said, “I am also a sports person. I have played cricket for around 45 years. Yes, I was not able to reach the level Mithali has reached. Still, every sportsman should know to accept defeat in same sporting spirit like the victory. Yes, after we reached final expectations must have grown up in everyone's mind."

Mithali called up her parents after the end of match and was very disappointed. Dorai added,“She was so upset that she uttered only one sentence. She said that she will start from London on Tuesday (July 25) for her journey back home!"

The father of the 34-year-old cricketer is guessing that after coming back home, Mithali might tell him that she wants to say good bye to cricket as she did the same four years back.

Raj recalled, “In 2013 World Cup Indian women had a disastrous show when they finished at seventh position. As its aftermath Mithali was similarly frustrated and after coming back home she told us that she had taken final decision of retiring from the game. That time we and her coach Murthy Royprolu sat with her and convinced her saying that she still has a lot of things to contribute. Following our repeated requests Mithali again resumed training at St. John Cricket academy."

This time also, if Mithali decides to say good bye to the game, Dorai Raj will persuade her not to do that.

He said, “I will say the same words that I told her four years ago. You still have a lot of cricket which will help the country to gain more laurels."
