Bengaluru, June 5: A few years ago, late at night on Delhi streets, Virat Kohli and MS Dhoni decided to race in their cars and the current Test captain won driving at Formula 1 speed.
This interesting incident was narrated by Kohli himself in an interview recently. Stating that he loves driving cars at high speeds, Kohli recollected the day when the Indian team was in Delhi to play against Australia.
"I love driving. I love speed. I love cars. I remember the incident," Kohli told "The Cricket Monthly" digital magazine when he was asked about it.
"We were heading to watch a preview show featuring the tribute documentary to Michael Jackson, 'This Is It'. MS (Dhoni) and (Suresh) Raina were in another car. It was late at night and we were playing against Australia in Delhi. We started racing and we wanted to see who gets (to the cinema) first.
"It was a crazy experience and something I like to do every now and then. But I don't really get the time during the busy hours in traffic, so I like to drive late at night to satisfy my craving or need for speed," the 26-year-old right-hander revealed.
When queried whether he had the seat belt on, Kohli said yes and added he always drives cars which have air bags.
"Absolutely, I always have the seat belt on. I never drive the car without the air bags. There are some things I always keep in check: I wear contacts, so I make sure I am wearing my glasses when I drive.
"All these small things really matter, especially in our country where it is very important to be safe when you are driving because someone or something can come out of nowhere and then it can get really messy. That is why I choose to drive when the roads are absolutely empty and then I can relax," he said.
During the Indian Premier League recently, Kohi took his Royal Challengers Bangalore's (RCB) team-mates for a ride in his Lamborghini Gallardo.
Also, he had taken Chris Gayle around in his limited edition Audi R8. Yesterday (June 4), he launched Audi RS6 Avant in Delhi.
