New Delhi, Nov 15: Former India opener Virender Sehwag on Tuesday joined the league of celebrities pitching their support to Prime Minister Narendra Modi's decision to ban Rs 1000 and 500 notes.

In a bid to curb corruption and black money, Modi goverment last week decided to ban high-value currency notes triggering panic and chaos across the nation.

Long queues are seen outside banks and ATMs as people are struggling to get their currencies exchanged. While people are lauding the move from the government there are also those who are criticising the government for poor planning and implementation.

(Demonetisation- What the stars are saying?)

There were instances of people venting out their anger and frustration over banks and security personnel deployed outside the banks. There are even reports of people dying standing the queues in a bid to exchange cash.

Coming out in support of the move, Sehwag took to Twitter to invoke the martyrdom of Lance Naik Hanumanthappa Koppad who was found alive six days after being buried under 25 feet snow, after an avalanche hit his post on Siachen Glacier.

Coming up with a logical solution to bearing with the trouble, Sehwag tweeted, "Shaheed Hanumanthappa waited 6 days, 35ft under snow, in-45°C, in hope of being rescued. Surely,we can wait few hrs in line to rescue Our Nation."

Sehwag also tweeted the image of the brave Indian soldier who succumbed in a hospital after being rescued.

This is what Sehwag said on demonetisation issue earlier:
