Virat Kohli's tweet shaming Anushka Sharma haters termed 'most influential tweet' of 2016

Twitter India released their listing of the most influential tweets of 2016 in which Virat's tweet has emerged as the 'golden tweet' of 2016.

New Delhi, Dec 7: India's Run Machine Virat Kohli's tweet in which he slammed all those who blammed his actor-girl friend Anushka Sharma for his poor form has been named the golden tweet of the year.

As per reports, Twitter India released their listing of the most influential tweets of 2016 in which Virat's tweet has emerged as the 'golden tweet' of 2016.

Following his Virat's poor performance in the World T20, Anushka was trolled over Twitter for bringing bad luck upon the cricketer. Kohli condemned those who were mocking his girl friend over social media.

"Shame on people for trolling @AnushkaSharma non-stop. Have some compassion. She has always only given me positivity," the Indian Test skipper had written.

In an Instagram message Virat said, "Shame on those people calling themselves educated. Shame on blaming and making fun of her when she has no control over what i do with my sport."

The star batsman's tweet went viral with over 39,000 retweets and he was lauded for taking a stand for Anushka.

The Instagram post got 2,46,700 likes and 22,400 comments.

Virat and Anushka's relation is getting stronger with every passing day the two are seen making public appearances together.

While PM Narendra Modi's demonetisation tweet which hit a record 6.5 lakh tweets in 24 hours was the second best in the list.

According to TOI report, Maya Hari, Managing Director, Twitter Southeast Asia and India, said that Kohli's tweet was the ultimate winner because he stood out as a great role model for standing up for a woman and also for her safety and defence on the social platform.
