It was after a gap of 104 International matches (ODI and Test combined) when Virat Kohli was dismissed without opening his account.

Hosts were trapped in the spin web of left-arm spinner Steve O'Keefe who produced his best Test innings figures (6-35) as Indians were shocked in their own backyard.

Virat Kohli's rarest of rare record: Out for a duck after 104 innings

But it wasn't just the Indian team that witnessed a rare collapse, even the Indian skipper Virat Kohli too recorded a rarest of rare record after getting dismissed for duck.

It was after a gap of 104 International matches (ODI and Test combined) when Kohli was dismissed without opening his account.

Mitchell Starc got Kohli caught at first slip on the second delivery the Indian skipper was facing. He was tricked by the Australian pacer as he was lured to play a shot to a ball going away from the bat.

There are rare sights when India's batting mainstay, Kohli, fails to perform but rarest are the moments when he gets out for nought.

Friday (Feb 24) was one such rarest of rare days as Starc restricted Kohli from opening his account. It was only the fourth occasion in 93 Test innings when the 28-year-old departed without adding any run to his account.

He was last dimissed for duck way back in 2014 during ODI against England at Cardiff.
