Virat Kohli-led Team India leaves for West Indies tour

Mumbai, July 6: Virat Kohli-led Team India left for the tour of the West Indies from here in the wee hours of today (July 6). India will play 4 Tests against the West Indies.

The 17-member squad, along with new head coach Anil Kumble and the support staff, departed from Mumbai. This will be the first assignment for Kumble as the chief coach of the team. The 45-year-old was appointed on June 23. (Excited to work with Kohli, says Kumble)

The official Twitter handle of the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) posted a video of the players leaving a hotel in Mumbai. It wrote, "The journey begins. #TeamIndia leaves for the tour of West Indies. #WIvIND."

The Indian team had a fruitful preparatory camp at Bengaluru's National Cricket Academy. The camp concluded on July 4. India's tour against West Indies starts this Saturday (July 9) with a two-day warm-up match against the West Indies Cricket Board (WICB) President's XI.

There are 2 practice games before the 1st Test begins in Antigua on July 21. The last time India toured the Caribbean, they won the 3-Test rubber 1-0 in 2011.
