Indore, Oct 9: A day after skipper Virat Kohli hit his 13th Test century, his deputy Ajinkya Rahane too slammed his 8th Test ton on Sunday (Oct 9).
Rahane brought up his hundred in 210 deliveries against New Zealand and added a 250 runs for the fourth wicket with Kohli.
Rahane slammed his ton in his 29th Test match and took 49 innings. It wasn't one of those great knocks from Rahane but he showed resilience and grit to bring up his hundred on Indian soil.
Earlier on Saturday, Rahane crossed yet another landmark as he completed 2000 Test runs in the third and final rubber at Indore. He became 36th Indian batsman to do so.
The 28-year-old Mumbai batsman has aggregated runs at an average of 47.57. He made his Test debut against Australia in March 2013 at Delhi's Feroz Shah Kotla.
Fans took to Twitter to hail Rahane for his achievement.
