Hobart, Jan 22: Moises Henriques has been included in Australia's squad for tomorrow's Carlton Mid ODI Tri-Series match against England in place of fellow all-rounder Shane Watson.
Watson reported tightness in his right hamstring during training at Blundstone Arena on Thursday morning and has been stood down from the match as a result, Cricket Australia (CA) said in a statement today.
Henriques will join the squad in Hobart on Thursday evening and, as a result, will miss the Sydney Sixers-Sydney Thunder Big Bash League (BBL) Twenty20 match at the Sydney Cricket Ground.
However, Henriques, along with Shaun Marsh and Cameron White - two other players drafted into the Australia squad for Friday's match - will be released to their franchises for the BBL semi-finals that are scheduled to take place on Saturday and Sunday, CA added.
David Warner has been rested for this game while George Bailey is suspended for over-rate offence. Steve Smith will lead the side.
Explaining the inclusion of 27 year-old Moises Henriques, National Selector Rodney Marsh said: "Moises is one of our leading all-rounders, he has international experience, and in Shane Watson's enforced absence it made perfect sense to draft him in for this match.
"The intention is to release Moises, along with Cameron White and Shaun Marsh, after the match as it is our expectation that we will have George Bailey, Mitchell Marsh and David Warner available for selection for our match in Sydney on Monday."
Australia squad for Friday's match: Steve Smith (captain), Patrick Cummins, Xavier Doherty, James Faulkner, Aaron Finch, Brad Haddin, Moises Henriques, Shaun Marsh, Glenn Maxwell, Gurinder Sandhu, Mitchell Starc, Cameron White.
