Bengaluru, April 27: Former India captain Sourav Ganguly has picked his IPL Fantasy "Dream Team" which has no place for two big names in the history of the Twenty20 tournament.
Ganguly has omitted the most successful IPL captain Mahendra Singh Dhoni and the league's leading run scorer Suresh Raina.
Recently, Ganguly was quoted as saying, "I am not too sure if Dhoni is a good T20 player. He is a champion ODI player but when it comes to T20 cricket, in 10 years, he has got one fifty and that's not the best record."
The 4 overseas players in Ganguly's XI are Steve Smith of Rising Pune Supergiant (RPS), AB de Villiers of Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB), Kolkata Knight Riders' (KKR) Sunil Narine and Chris Morris of Delhi Daredevils (DD).
Ganguly, who had captained KKR in IPL, chose Virat Kohli and Gautam Gambhir as the openers. Smith is at number three followed by De Villiers.
Young Mumbai Indians (MI) batsman Nitish Rana is at 5 while Manish Pandey occupied the 6th position.
Exciting DD wicketkeeper-batsman Rishabh Pant, Narine, Amit Mishra, Bhuvneshwar Kumar and Morris complete the batting order.
After much thought and some hard decisions this is my #IPLFantasy dream team.Which players are a part of your team?#VIVOIPL @SGanguly99 pic.twitter.com/8fHVWs0kCR
