Mumbai, Aug 17: In a cricket match on Sunday (August 16) in Mumbai, leg-spinner Seemab Khan took 5 wickets to help his team win in the Dr HD Kanga League.
For those wondering what is different about this bowler or the performance, the answer is - Seemab is the son of late Bollywood actor Amjad Khan and he put in this memorable show one day after his dad's iconic movie "Sholay" celebrated 40 years. The film had released on August 15, 1975.
Amjad, who became famous for his Gabbar Singh character in "Sholay", is still remembered. As the nation paid tribute to the film on Saturday (August 15), Ajmad's 33-year-old son Seemab (5/25) too did his bit by bowling Dadar Union Sporting Club (DUSC) to victory (on first innings lead) against Shivaji Park Youngsters (SPY) in a 'B' Division game at Mahul, according to a report in Mumbai's "Mid-Day" newspaper on Monday (August 17).
"I really enjoyed the challenge of bowling in tough conditions. I was aiming to help my team end up with an outright win, but that was not to be. Playing in the 'B' division is tougher as compared to ‘C' division. The SPY batsmen were difficult to unsettle," Seemab was quoted as saying in the report.
Seemab revealed that he had lost 12 kilos in the last 7 weeks and was hoping to play for Mumbai team.
"I've lost 12 kilos in the last seven weeks thanks to my cricket training. My dream to play for Mumbai is very much alive," he said.
On his performance a day after the 40th anniversary of "Sholay", Seemab said, "It's a very good coincidence that I helped my side to win on the day after Sholay's 40th anniversary. I'm very happy."
