Ravi Shastri named Team India's interim coach for Bangladesh tour

New Delhi. June 2: Former Indian captain Ravi Shastri was named as Team India's interim coach for tour of Bangladesh starting June 10.

BCCI Secretary Anurag Thakur confirmed the news to the media on Tuesday.

Sanjay Bangar was appointed the batting coach while Bharat Arun was appointed the bowling coach. Ramakrishnan Sridhar will be the fielding coach.

It was also said that a full-time coach will be appointed after the Bangladesh tour gets over. India will play one Test and three one-day internationals (ODIs) between June 10 and 24. While Virat Kohli will lead the Test team, Mahendra Singh Dhoni will captain the one-day side.

Shastri, who played 80 Tests and 150 ODIs and was a member of the squad that lifted the 1983 World Cup, has played various roles in connection to cricket in the past. He was Team India Director during the tour of Australia and the ICC World Cup 2015.

Earlier on Monday, former greats Sachin Tendulkar, Sourav Ganguly and VVS Laxman joined the new advisory committee of the BCCI. [Sachin, Ganguly, Laxman join BCCI Advisory Committee]

Another great Rahul Dravid reportedly turned down the invitation to join the panel.
