Rangana Herath to lead Sri Lanka in the first Test against India

Left-arm spinner steps in after Chandimal indisposed

Bengaluru, July 23: Veteran left-arm spinner Rangana Herath will lead Sri Lanka in the first Test against India at Galle, beginning from July 26. The Sri Lanka Cricket (SLC) made the announcement on Sunday (July 23).

Herath has been appointed after regular skipper Dinesh Chandimal was diagnosed with pneumonia a couple of days back.

The 39-year-old Herath has played 81 Test matches and took 384 wickets for Sri Lanka.
