If fielders dropped catches at slips on Day 1, wicketkeeper Wriddhiman Saha was the culprit in on Thursday. Saha dropped well set Ben Stokes twice behind the stumps as the left-handed went on slamming the third century from England in the match.

Indian player Ajinkya Rahane drops a catch of England batsman Alastair Cook during day 1 of the first test match in Rajkot on Wednesday.

Stokes in particular was the luckiest as Indians missed his run out chances, stumpings and catches.

Earlier on Wednesday, the dropped catches of Alastair Cook and debutant opener Haseeb Hameed in the first hour of play spoiled India's chances of getting an early crack at the visiting team's middle-order, conceded India's batting coach Sanjay Bangar here on Wednesday (Nov 9).

"In the first session of day one of a Test match there's always something in the wicket. Whether you bat or bowl first, you need to make the first session count.

There were unfortunately a couple of dropped catches which did not allow us to make those early dents into their bating line-up. That set us back," said Bangar at the media conference after stumps on Day 1.

The story wasn't different on Thursday as Indians failed to take the catches, adding to the frustration of the skipper Virat Kohli as well as fans.
