The ace Indian off-spinner, who became the fastest Asian bowler to grab 200 Test wickets, backed the Pakistani leg-spinner to break his own record in the longer format of the game.
Shah, who has played 16 Tests so far, is set to reach 100 Test wickets and become fastest Asian do so. Shah has 95 wickets in 16 Tests so far and needs 5 more wickets.
Ashwin achieved this feat in 18 Tests, while Shah is playing his 17th Test at Dubai, which is also Pakistan and West Indies' first ever day-night Test.
Replying to a Pakistani journalist Faizan Lakhani, Ashwin, who is number one Test bowler at present, himself greeted the bowler on the occasion.
"Good luck, may the force be with him. He is such a delight to watch," said Ashwin on twitter.
