Kanpur, Sep 25: Indian off-spinner Ravichandran Ashwin added yet another feather in his illustrious hat after claiming the prized wicket of New Zealand skipper, Kane Williamson, in the 1st Test at Kanpur.
Ashwin became the fastest Asian and second fastest bowler in the world to claim 200 Test wickets. He took 37 Tests to reach the milestone. Before start of this match Ashwin had 193 wickets in 36 matches. (Photo Gallery)
The Chennai off-spinner broke the record previously held by Pakistan's Waqar Younis who achieved this milestone in 38 Tests.

During Test series against West Indies, a wet outfield in the final Test match denied Ravichandran Ashwin a opportunity to equal a major Test record of becoming the fastest bowler to get 200 Test wickets.

Had the match between India and West Indies not washed out, Ashwin would have equalled Australian leg-spinner Clarrie Grimmett's record of 200 wickets in 36 Tests.
Earlier, Ashwin surpassed batting legend Sachin Tendulkar and Virender Sehwag to set a new record at the conclusion of the 4th and final Test between India and West Indies in Port of Spain.
Ashwin had six Man-of-the-series awards while Tendulkar and Sehwag held the record jointly with 5 apiece.
