Had the match between India and West Indies not washed out, Ashwin would have equalled Australian leg-spinner Clarrie Grimmett's record of 200 wickets in 36 Tests.

Earlier, Ashwin surpassed batting legend Sachin Tendulkar and Virender Sehwag to set a new record at the conclusion of the 4th and final Test between India and West Indies in Port of Spain.

Ashwin had six Man-of-the-series awards while Tendulkar and Sehwag held the record jointly with 5 apiece.
