PHOTOS: Rohit Sharma ties the knot with Ritika Sajdeh

Mumbai, Dec 14: India batsman Rohit Sharma began a new innings in life as he married his longtime girlfriend Ritika Sajdeh in Mumbai on Sunday (December 13).

The 28-year-old Rohit married Ritika at a hotel in Bandra. Former India captain and batting legend Sachin Tendulkar and his wife Anjali were among the guests who wished the couple at the wedding ceremony. Rohit and Ritika had got engaged in April this year.

Off-spinner Harbhajan Singh, who recently married Geeta Basra, also took part in the celebrations along with his actress wife. All-rounder Yuvraj Singh and his fiancee Hazel Keech too were among the audience.

Rohit's India team-mates Cheteshwar Pujara, Ravindra Jadeja who are currently playing in the Vijay Hazare Trophy one-day tournament, took time off and were at the event.

Earlier this month, Rohit had met Prime Minister Narendra Modi and invited him to his wedding. He was in Delhi playing for India in the 4th and final Test of the series against South Africa. At the time, he called upon the Prime Minister and handed over his marriage invitation.

India's limited overs captain MS Dhoni could not attend Rohit's marriage, as he was in Bengaluru, playing for Jharkhand in the Vijay Hazare Trophy. However, Dhoni was in Mumbai for the party on Friday (December 11) hosted by Mukesh Ambani at his residence.

The Ambanis had hosted a party to celebrate both Harbhajan and Rohit's weddings. Many bollywood stars had graced the occasion.

With no international cricket for India at the moment, Rohit will enjoy his break and return to action next month when the team travels to Australia for a limited overs tour. India and Australia will play 5 ODIs and 3 T20Is starting from January 12, 2016.
