Mohali, Nov 29: Indian cricket fans on Tuesday (Nov 29) got a chance to see the bat with which former India captain Kapil Dev slammed historic 175 not out at Turnbridge Wells against Zimbabwe in the 1983 World Cup.

Kapil Dev, who went on becoming India's first World Cup winning captain, inspired the underdog Indian side to lift the trophy with the help of this incredible knock.

The situation in which Kapil Dev walked into the middle was grave. India were 9 for 4 when Kapil walked into the middle and the condition worsened to 17 for 5, shortly after. 

Kapil's incredible 175 runs came off just 138 balls. He put up world record 126-run stand for the ninth wicket with Syed Kirmani. 

India won the league match by 31 runs. Sadly, there is no visual record of this incredible innings because of BBC broadcasters' strike.
