Bengaluru, July 23: When India were losing wickets at regular intervals towards the end to botch up a chase on Sunday (July 23) at Lord's, Mithali Raj was an oasis of calm. Her face betrayed hardly any emotion.
Perhaps, her long international career helped her stay calm. And at the post-match presentation, Mithali said she would not represent India in another World Cup.
"I will play on for couple of more years. But this is the last World Cup," said Mithali, who ended the tournament with 409 runs, one behind England's Tammy Beaumont, who was also adjudged Player of the Tournament.
The defeat might have wrankled her. But she did not show it but chose the hurting moment to be gracious and appreciate the efforts of her teammates.
"I would like to tell my girls that I am very proud of them. It is a huge boost to play in front of such crowds," she said.
