Pune, April 27: Mahendra Singh Dhoni once again showed his brilliance behind the stumps as he effected another superb run out during the match between Rising Pune Supergiant and Kolkata Knight Riders here on Wednesday (April 26).
The audiences witnessed the MS Dhoni special with his gloves on behind the wickets as he helped to get rid of vitriolic Sunil Narine in the league match of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2017.
It was the third over of the Kolkata innings when Gautam Gambhir worked spinner Washington Sundar towards short-fine leg fielder to steal a single.
But a great piece of work from Shardul Thakur, who stopped the ball quickly and threw it towards the keeper's end, where Dhoni was standing and the latter just flicked the ball on to the stumps.
The ball hit the stumps and Dhoni immediately appealed the umpires to go upstairs. The replays showed Narine was outplayed by Dhoni's presence of mind.
Narine, who was looking in menacing form, had to walk back towards the dug out as Pune had got their first breakthrough.
Dhoni also played a cameo of 23 from 11 deliveries and smashed two big sixes, but his innings was cut short by chinaman Kuldeep Yadav. He was stumped by Robin Uthappa in the 18th over.
His dismissal at crucial juncture puntured Pune's hopes of posting a score past 190.
Ultimately, RPS could only manage to score 182/5 in 20 overs which Kolkata chased down quite comfortably for the loss of just three wickets.
Kolkata defeated Pune by 7 wickets with 11 balls to spare and reached at the top of the points table with six wins.
