MS Dhoni responds to Vengsarkar's criticism on fitness, says he's been training in Ranchi

Dhoni was recently seen attend India cricketer Yuvraj Singh's wedding reception in New Delhi, where he commented upon his fitness and preparation.

New Delhi, Dec 9: Days after former India captain Dilip Vengsarkar wondered how limited overs skipper Mahendra Singh Dhoni keeps himself fit, the latter has come out with a response.

Vengsarkar questions MS Dhoni's 'strange' fitness

34-year-old Dhoni, who is still one of the fittest cricketers, has reportedly said that he's working out in the gym.

MS Dhoni responds to Vengsarkar's fitness remark, says he's been training and gymming in Ranchi

While speaking to The Telegraph Dhoni said, "I've been training and gymming in Ranchi. Keeping myself in shape (for the ODIs and the T20Is against England)."

Dhoni was recently seen attend India cricketer Yuvraj Singh's wedding reception in New Delhi, where he commented upon his fitness and preparation.

Vengsarkar, the 60-year-old MCA president, earlier wondered how the Jharkhand lad keeps himself fit without playing domestic cricket now that he's retired from Tests.

"Dhoni has retired from Test cricket. He also doesn't play Ranji games. So how does he keep himself match-fit. One needs to play regularly to stay match-fit. It's ironical that Dhoni isn't doing this," Vengsarkar, in an interview to mid-day.com, said.

India's 'Captain Cool' will reportedly get a chance to play atleast a couple of warm-up matches before the England ODI series. Dhoni will play with India A against England to prepare ahead of the first ODI match against England, starting January 15 at Pune.

Dhoni, who has not been playing since the home series against New Zealand in October, would have gone into the ODI series without proper game time for 77 days.
