Ranchi, July 21: Former India skipper Mahendra Singh Dhoni has launched the first store of his sports apparel brand titled 'Seven' in his hometown, Ranchi.
At a time when Team India is preparing hard for the Test series against Sri Lanka, MS Dhoni - who is not a part of the Test team - is utilising the break to expand his business.
The brand has been named 'Seven' after the star Indian batsman's jersey. '7' is Dhoni's lucky number and the veteran wicketkeeper-batsman sports it on each of his jersey.
The 36-year-old cricketer will also be the brand ambassador of the sports apparel brand owned by Dhoni's Rhiti Sports.
Dhoni, who is most successful Indian captain across all formats, was present at the launch of the first store at a mall in Ranchi. A sea of fans had gathered at the mall during the launch to get a glimpse of the local boy who is an inspiration to millions.
Dhoni posted an image on Instagram with a caption that read, "1st store of SEVEN opens at my hometown Ranchi. So much love and affection from the people had to spend some time in the storeroom."
Dhoni even interacted with the fans present during the launch and thanked them for their love and support. The veteran cricketer admitted that it was the first occasion when he was a sea of fans at a public place in his hometown.
The veteran India cricketer is utilising the break from international cricket to expand his business.
Dhoni returned with the Indian side after winning the ODI series against West Indies but lost the one-off T20I against them.
Team India on the other hand have reached Sri Lanka where they'll play three Test. Dhoni will join the team later next month for the limited overs series. However, the ODI team for Sri Lanka tour is still to be announced by the selectors.
