Misbah-ul-Haq slams maiden Test century at Lord's: Twitterati hail veteran Pakistan skipper

London, July 15: Pakistan skipper Misbah-ul-Haq slammed an impressive century against England at Lord's on Thursday (July 14) during the first Test match here.

The 42-year-old batsman became the sixth oldest player in Test history to slam a ton and took Pakistan to 282 for six at stumps on the opening day. He was unbeaten on 110.

Immediately after Misbah scored his maiden Test ton at Lord's and career's 10th, Misbah dropped on the turf and performed 10 push-ups.

When asked about his gesture, which included a salute to the Pakistan flag flying above the Pavilion, Misbah said, "I promised the army guys I would do the push-ups if I got a century."

"We had an honour code on the boot camp, for push-ups, so that was my promise to them the next time I scored 100. So that was for them, and the salute was for the flag," added Misbah.

Pakistan had a gruelling pre-tour boot camp at a military academy in Kakul in May.

Former cricketers, present Pakistan players and several cricket experts hailed Misbah's gritty century at the historic venue.
