New Delhi, March 2: West Indies are preparing for the upcoming three-match one-day series against England, starting Friday (March 3).
In their run up to the limited-overs series against a star-studded England side, West Indies are hoping to dominate the visitors as they are playing at home.
The Carribean team is under pressure to reverse a run of poor form that could see them facing the indignity of having to qualify for the next World Cup in 2019.
The contest between the two sides is expected to revive the memories of Carlos Brathwaite and Ben Stokes when they last met in the World T20 final in 2016 at Eden Gardens.
Amid all this bitter-sweet rivalry between Stokes and Brathwaite, Rahkeem Cornwall, a six-foot-six-inch cricketer from Antigua who weighs around 140 kilograms is hogging all the limelight.
Cornwall hasn't yet played for West Indies but if he gets a chance against England, he will become the heaviest cricketer to play international cricket.
While playing for West Indies Cricket Board President's XI against England in the practice match, Cornwall scored a 61-ball 59 that included six fours and three sixes.
He steered the side struggling at 55/5 in 17 overs to reach a decent total of 233 in 50 overs. He also impressed with his bowling effort (39/1 in 10 overs).
He has played 25 first-class matches for West Indies and scored over 1000 runs. Cornwall has taken 125 wickets in these 25 games.
The top eight teams in the International Cricket Council ODI rankings at the end of September 2017 automatically advance to the event in England.
The West Indies -- struggling in ninth spot three points behind Pakistan and a further two adrift of Bangladesh -- have only this series, a return duel in England in September and, critically, three matches against Pakistan in the Caribbean in April to make the cut.
