Bengaluru, March 25: The Karnataka State Cricket Association (KSCA) today (March 25) announced the launch of "KSCA Suraksha", a group personal accident insurance scheme for young and budding cricketers across Karnataka.
"Karnataka State Cricket Association is pleased to announce the launch of 'KSCA Suraksha' which is a Group Insurance Scheme for cricketers across the state. KSCA is the first State Association in the country to launch this scheme," KSCA's official spokesperson Vinay Mruthyunjaya said in a press release on Saturday.
KSCA, in its pursuit for excellence in cricket adminsitration has come up with many innovative and novel initiatives in the recent past which are hailed by cricketers, cricket lovers, administrators and the public at large.
Some of the initiatives like sports rehabiliiation centre, solar power project, Sub-Air system, water harvesting, waste management project, etc have not only benchmarked the cricket administration but has also created enormous good will for the game in terms of social and environmental impact assessment for sustainable development of the game.
"KSCA is the first in the country to take insurance to cover the players across the state," the association said.
"KSCA Suraksha" will be effective from 1 April 2017 by the KSCA in tie-up with National Insurance Company Limited, one of the leading public sector insurance companies in the country.
Under this scheme, personal accident insurance cover shall be provided to all young and budding Cricketers (Other than those already covered by the BCCI) will be
covered under this KSCA Suraksha upto a sum of Rs 1 lakh, KSCA said.
The scheme shall also cover hospitalisation benefit, OPD treatement upto Rs 5,000 per
person arising on account of accident, it added.
All the cricketers across the state (other than those covered by BCCI) will be covered for Rs 1 lakh Capital Sum Insured (CSI), and the salient featurs of the scheme are as follows:
# Capital Sum Insured (CSI) limits payable to the insured person / legal heirs of the insured person (Other than those covered by BCCI) in the event of the following arising out of accidents (24 X 7 worldwide cover).
# Medical expenses (OPD) arising out of accidents on stand-alone basis up to the limits agreed
# Hospitalisation expenses arising out of accidents on stand-alone basis up to the limits agreed
# Permanent partial disablement
# Permanent total disablement
# Death
# Children education grant up to 50% of the CSI limit in the event of death of the insured person
