Gavaskar was quoted by NDTV as saying, "India are not out of the game. Ashwin and Jadeja can run amok on Friday (Sep 23). There is purchase in the wicket. India have their hopes high from the spinners. They must stop big partnerships to keep New Zealand in check tomorrow." (1st Test, Day 2: New Zealand restrict India to 318)
Praising New Zelanad's spinners the cricketing legend said, "It was a good call by New Zealand to play three spinners. Ish Sodhi can win you a match with three-four wickets."
The Kiwis fielded three spinners Santner, offie Mark Craig and leg-break bowler Ish Sodhi, who bowled 59 out of the 90 overs.
New Zealand spinners accounted for six wickets of the Indian innings which collapsed on 318 in 97 overs.
