With some cricketers even rating the Delhi lad better than the Master Blaster, the Indian Test captain has reiterated that comparing him with the legend is not right.

Kohli has maintained that it is humanly impossible for him to match up to Tendulkar's batting records, whom he idolises.

In a recent interview with the International Cricket Council (ICC), the right-hander pleaded not to compare him with his idol.

"I don't see why people compare me with him because the way he played his cricket and the way he inspired people, I don't think anyone else has been able to inspire people like that. Where he is, I think all the comparison should start leaving him aside. Even if people want to compare, he should be left apart, it should start from under him," Kohli said.

Kohli said it is tough to match Sachin's legacy as the former Mumbai-based batter had a very long cricketing career.

"I don't intend to match up to the numbers that he has produced for India because it is humanly impossible that you will be able to play that long period because he started at 16 firstly and then to be so consistent, you cannot guarantee that."

Earlier too Kohli said that comparing him with Tendulkar isn't just right.

"I don't know if if I have reached my peak yet. It just feels that I have just started in the last couple of months. Coaches including in IPL ask me regularly whether I have hit peak or not. All I can say is that I have been hitting the ball better than I have ever but I know this phase can't be taken for granted," Kohli had said earlier.
