Ishant Sharma reveals he has changed due to one person

"I love cricket. So I am playing. But it does not mean that I am in the race to get into the Indian team again and even if I fail. I will have to spend sleepless nights."

Kolkata, Oct 21: One can find philosophical similarity between the world's number one tennis player Novak Djokovic and Indian fast bowler Ishant Sharma!

Ishant gets engaged; Ishant misses Test due to Chikungunya

Djokovic has revealed that he will not be in the race for retaining the number one spot in near future. Even he has repeatedly said that stiff mental stress while training and even off the practice to win a Grand Slam also does not seem to be meaningful to him nowadays.

Pratima and Ishant during their engagement ceremony in June this year

The 28-year-old Ishant also looked living with same attitude when he revealed saying, "I love cricket. So I am playing. But it does not mean that I am in the race to get into the Indian team again and even if I fail. I will have to spend sleepless nights."

Ishant is in Kolkata to play Ranji Trophy match against Karnataka at Eden Gardens. Even after having failed to deliver impressive show in the match, Ishant did not seem to be perturbed.

Rather, he looked more interested in talking about his would-be wife, Pratima with whom he had completed engagement in June this year. His fiancee had also represented India in basketball.

But according to Ishant, she does not have much interest in cricket and she is reportedly not keen to talk about cricket all the time also.

Ishant said, "This has come as a blessing for me as I enjoy talking to her on various things apart from cricket. Actually, talking to Pratima on other issues has taught me that cricket is not the only thing in life."

He said, "Actually I am being able to play with a free mind nowadays and Pratima has made a major contribution to change my philosophy."

Ishant has been ruled out of the ongoing series against New Zealand after he had suffered chikungunya disease. He was asked whether he would be able to get into national side before the series against England starts.

Ishant with a smiling face, replied, "I am thinking only on the improvement of my bowling now, not focusing on any forthcoming series. If I can do that I will get into the national team before any series."
