Don't get it the wrong way, the Nawab of Najafgarh is pleased with the decision because it could be a blessing his disguise for his IPL franchise Kings XI Punjab in the upcoming IPL 2017 season.

Speaking at 'SporTale', India's first sports-themed literary festival, a witty Sehwag said, "I am happy that he (Dhoni) isn't captain because maybe now my team, Kings XI Punjab, can beat this Pune team."

Sehwag, who has had high regards for Dhoni's captaincy skills, refused to comment upon the internal decision of a team's internal decision.

"On a serious note, I believe that this is an internal decision of the franchise but he is one of the best ever captains India has ever had," added Sehwag.

Earlier, RPS removed Dhoni and appointed Australia's Steve Smith as its new skipper just a day ahead of IPL 2017 auction.

Team owner Sanjiv Goenka explained the reason behind removing Dhoni as the skipper of the franchise.

"Dhoni has not stepped down. We have appointed Steve Smith as the skipper for the upcoming season. Frankly speaking, we did not have a good last season and we wanted someone young to lead the side and revamp it ahead of the upcoming season 10," Goenka was quoted as saying by PTI.

Debutants RPS had a forgettable first season, where they finished seventh in the points table. The team managed to win just five of their 14 matches in IPL 9 under Dhoni's leadership. This also happened to be Dhoni's worst performance as a captain in the nine years of IPL history.

Dhoni is still the most successful IPL captains for his former IPL team Chennai Super Kings made it to the playoffs stage or remained a finalist.
