Indore, April 8: Mahendra Singh Dhoni set another record in his illustrious cricket career when he played for Rising Pune Supergiant (RPS) in an Indian Premier League (IPL) 2017 match against Kings XI Punjab (KXIP) here today (April 8).

At the Holkar Stadium, on Saturday, Dhoni played in his 250th Twenty20 match. He is the first player from India to the milestone. Suresh Raina is 2nd with 246 appearances. However, Dhoni could not make it memorable with the bat as he was dismissed for just 5 runs. (Match report)
The 35-year-old wicketkeeper-batsman made his T20 debut against South Africa in Johannesburg in 2006. Before today's game he had scored 5,063 runs from 249 matches.
One of the best captains in limited overs format, Dhoni led India to World T20 glory in South Africa in 2007.

He is the most successful captain in the history of IPL. He led Chennai Super Kings (CSK) to 2 titles in 2010 and 2011. He also took them to Champions League (CLT20) trophies in 2010 and 2014. CSK are currently serving a two-year ban due to corruption charges. They will return to IPL next year.
Ahead of this IPL season, Dhoni was removed as Pune captain and Australian Steve Smith was handed the responsibility.
