Pune, April 29: Badly bruised and battered after two consecutive losses, first in Kolkata and then in Bengaluru, Virat Kohli-led Royal Challengers Bangalore would be keen to improve their performance in the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2017.
RCB will next face against an inconsistent Rising Pune Supergiant side on the latter's home turf in Pune on Saturday (April 29). (Preview: RPS Vs RCB)
Current India captain Virat Kohli's team has lost six out of their nine games and are second-last on the table with five points in their kitty.
Captain Kohli would want his team to get over the back-to-back humiliating defeats and start afresh. A loss now would close Bangalore's door for the play-off. Therefore, they shouldn't settle with anything less than a win against RPS.
They still have slim hopes if they can win all their remaining five games and hope for some favourable results from the other games. But their priority must now be to win all the remaining games. (RPS likely XI)
Team's big guns have failed to explode so far and the youngsters too have failed to shoulder the responsibility in times of need.
Hence, it will be important for the RCB to unite and play as a team in the remainder of the tournament.
Here is the likely RCB XI against RPS for tonight's encounter:
1. Chris Gayle
2. Virat Kohli (C)
3. AB de Villiers
4. Shane Watson
5. Kedar Jadhav (Wk)
6. Mandeep Singh
7. Pawan Negi
8. Samuel Badree
9. Sreenath Aravind
10. Aniket Choudhary
11. Yuzvendra Chahal
