IPL 2017: Irfan Pathan signed by Gujarat Lions to replace injured Dwayne Bravo

The 32-year-old bowling all-rounder played for Rising Pune Supergiant in the previous edition of the tournament.

Halfway through the tournament, he has got a second chance and prove his mettle in the shortest format of the game and answer his critics. Gujarat are languishing at the seventh spot in the points table.

GL all-rounder Dwayne Bravo was on Sunday (April 23) ruled out of the ongoing edition of the cash-rich league due to a hamstring injury. Gujarat are badly missing the services of this match winning player.

Bravo, who sustained the injury in December in the Big Bash League, has been going through a rehabilitation process after surgery on his right hamstring in January.

Expressing his disappointment on missing out the entire edition of the cash-rich league, Bravo, who picked up 17 wickets in 15 matches in the last season for Lions, said he will try to take the field in the second half of the tournament.

"It is with deep regret that I announce my decision to withdraw from the ongoing season of the Indian Premier League, owing to my hamstring injury. I have been with the Gujarat Lions squad since the beginning of their IPL 2017 campaign, undergoing my rehab on the sidelines, in the hope of returning to the cricket field in the second half of the tournament," Bravo said in a statement.
