IPL 2016: Virat Kohli is better batsman than AB de Villiers, says Shane Warne

New Delhi, May 27: Virat Kohli may have consistently dispelled his comparison with Sachin Tendulkar and AB de Villiers but former Australian spin legend Shane Warne has sought to settle the debate on who is the best batsman in the world.

According to Warne, Virat Kohli was better than his Royal Challengers Bangalore teammate AB de Villiers.

Shedding light on why he thinks the Indian swashbuckler is better than his South African counterpart in a chat totheringsideview.com Warne said, "De Villiers is a 360 degree player. He plays reverses, the lapses and all those sort of things but hasn't really played too many of 'those' innings Virat Kohli has played."

As per the legendary leg-spinner de Villiers tries too much and sometime outsmarts himself in doing so.

"He outsmarts himself too much and tries too many unbelievable shots." (Kohli is ahead of Messi, Djokovic)

Warne is in awe of how RCB skipper goes about his innings in the shorter format of the game.

"Even the innings the other day (113 against King XI Punjab), there wasn't one reverse shot. There was nothing funky, there were just cricket shots. It needs an amazing amount of skill to do that consistently in T20 cricket." the former Rajasthan Royals' skipper added. (Not fair to compare me with Sachin: Kohli)

"Kohli's determination and finding a way during crunch games just puts him ahead of de Villiers," he further added.

Talking about Kohli's unbelievable form and the records has against his name, Warne said, "If you look at their records, Virat Kohli has done it, he has an average of more than 100 when chasing score, that's just insane to see that sort of numbers." (Kohli can match Sachin: Cork)

"There is not much between them. But I think Virat Kohli just pips him."

Virat Kohli has had an amazing year so far. The right-handed batter has scored runs in ODIs and T20s with complete ease. With his 919 in 15 games, including 4 centuries, in the ongoing IPL the Delhi-lad has made batting look so easy.
